Sadly 1 in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point during our lives. Here at Macmillan we are a source of support and a force for change helping with all things that people affected by cancer want, need and deserve in and around the Lincoln area. It isn’t only patients who live with cancer, it’s their carers, families, friends and communities. We help guide people through the system to ensure they understand all their options at all times, supporting them every step of the way. We help fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres in the local area. In Lincoln we believe we are more than just medical help.
What we do ….
- We offer practical help where needed to make life easier.
- We provide anything from some precious time off for a carer right through to a lift to the hospital for treatment.
- People often need emotional support and don’t like to trouble those close to them, so we listen, advise and share information through our cancer line, website, support groups and trained professionals.
- People need financial help to cope with extra costs cancer can bring so we give benefits advice and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs.
Together we listen, we learn and we can to help people live with cancer. Above all, we ensure that nobody goes through their journey alone.
